Details: San Francisco-based MasterClass last raised money in mid-2020 in another Fidelity-led round, at a reported $800 million valuation.

  • Its instructive courses have featured Spike Lee, Christina Aguilera, Serena Williams, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Gordon Ramsey.
  • The company didn't respond to Axios' request for comment.

FBI: Trump-appointed State Department aide arrested in connection with Capitol riot

The FBI on Thursday arrested former State Department aide Federico Klein, a Trump appointee who worked on the former president's 2016 campaign, on charges related to the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol, according to a court filing.

Why it matters: The 42-year-old Klein is the first member of the Trump administration to be arrested in connection with the insurrection, which led to the former president's second impeachment and charges against over 300 people.

One single fire in California has burned across 1 million acres

A massive wildfire in the Coast Range of California, between San Francisco and the Oregon border, has burned over 1 million acres, Cal Fire said on Monday.

The big picture: The August Complex Fire, which merged from 37 different wildfires in the Mendocino National Forest, has killed one person and destroyed 159 structures as it burned across 1,002,097 acres, per Cal Fire. It was at 54% containment as of Monday.

Driving the news: Exclusive polling data from our Axios-Ipsos Coronavirus Index, which started in March 2020, shows that the respondents who reported never wearing masks were twice as likely to test positive for COVID as those who said they wore masks all the time.
