Trump calls for boycott of more companies over Georgia voting law

Former President Trump on Saturday added to a list of companies he's calling supporters to boycott for taking a stand against Georgia's voting restrictions.

Driving the news: Trump on Friday urged a boycott of Major League Baseball over its plans to move its All-Star Game out of Georgia and "all of the woke companies" that had taken a stand, adding "Are you listening Coke, Delta, and all!" In his new statement, he said: "Boycott Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, UPS, and Merck."

  • The companies named in Trump's boycott list did not immediately return Axios' request for comment.

AOC says it's "extremely important" that Biden offer Bernie Sanders a Cabinet position

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday that she believes it's "extremely important" that Joe Biden offer Sen. Bernie Sanders and other progressive leaders Cabinet positions if he's elected president.

The big picture: Ocasio-Cortez was pressed repeatedly on policy differences between her and the more moderate Biden, including her opposition to fracking and support for Medicare for All. She responded that it would be a "privilege" and a "luxury" to be able to lobby a Biden administration on progressive issues, insisting that the focus right now should be on winning the White House.

U.S. forces leave Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan after nearly 20 years

The U.S. military has departed Bagram Airfield, the center of its war to oust the Taliban and search for the al-Qaeda perpetrators of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, AP reports, citing two U.S. officials.

The big picture: The airfield was handed over to the Afghan National Security and Defense Force entirely, a clear indication that the remaining U.S. troops have left the region or are planning departure ahead of President Biden’s promise that they would be gone by Sept. 11, per AP.
